RACE RECAP: the WISCO MILE - 9 June 2010
The Brew City women took on the Wisco Mile on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in Wauwatosa, WI.
Leading the way was Cassie Peller, taking the "rabbit" duties for the field and leading them through on pace for a sub-4:55. Beside racing for the team, the field had a goal to help Gabby Levac break 4:55 to qualify for the New Balance High School meet in Greensboro, NC.
With Levac in tow, Gwen Jorgensen made her move in the last 500m and pushed home strong for the win in 4:52. Second went to the recent high school grad and state champ, Levac, in 4:58, and the final podium spot was earned by Peller in 5:00. The Brew City team was rounded out by Amy Horst, who finished 5th in 5:17.
Congratulations to the ladies! It was a great evening of mile racing on the track and excellent representation for the Brew City team!
Thanks also to our newest sponsor, Performance Running Outfitters. Trae was trackside to cheer on the women, as well as support the entire field through the race sponsorship. Check out their store online at http://www.performanerunning.com/ and visit them at their Ruby Isle location in Brookfield or the new location at Pabst Farms in Oconomowoc!
Proceeds from the night went to the Jenny Crain "Make it Happen" fund.
